DRA & Ad-hoc Relief Allowance Calculator
Five Disparity Reduction Allowances and five Ad-hoc Relief Allowances, each a percentage of a different figure — some of them your pay as it stood in 2017, 2022 or 2023. That is why stacking the percentages onto today’s basic pay gives the wrong answer, and why this asks for more than one number.

Under para 7 of the RBPS-2026 memorandum, all special pays, special allowances and allowances admissible as a percentage of pay — including House Rent Allowance and the allowance equal to one month's basic pay, and excluding those already capped at a maximum — stand frozen at the level of their admissibility as on 30-06-2026.

An estimate built from the published Office Memoranda. Your entitlement depends on your service history, your option under para 8, whether you draw the Executive Allowance or any allowance equal to 100% of basic pay, and how your Accounts Office has recorded your pay. The figure on your AGPR or DDO payslip governs.

Frozen allowances do not grow with your pay
Several of these were fixed at a rupee amount on a past date and stay there. Your basic pay rises with increments and revisions; a frozen allowance does not move with it.
Over years that changes the shape of a payslip. Allowances that were a meaningful share of pay when granted become a smaller one with every revision, which is part of why each new relief is announced as a fresh percentage rather than an increase to an existing line.
None of this counts for pension
Every one of these orders states that the allowance is not part of emoluments for pension, gratuity or house rent recovery. So a payslip that has grown substantially through allowances may sit on a pension base that has barely moved. That is worth knowing well before retirement, not at it.
They are all taxable
Each order makes the allowance subject to income tax. They form part of your taxable salary along with basic pay, which is why gross pay rising by a given amount does not raise take-home by the same amount.
Run the total through the income tax calculator to see the effect.
Where this stops
This is the federal chain. Provinces issue their own disparity and relief notifications on their own dates and at their own rates, and they have not consistently mirrored the federal orders.
FAQs
DRA & Ad-hoc Relief Allowance FAQs
Why does the calculator ask for my pay on four different dates?
Because each order bites on a different figure and most of them are frozen in the past. DRA-2021 and the two 2022 orders are percentages of basic pay under the Basic Pay Scales 2017. DRA-2025 and DRA-2026 are both percentages of basic pay as it stood on 30 June 2022. ARA-2024 runs on basic pay of BPS-2022. Only ARA-2026 uses your current pay. Adding the percentages together and applying them to today's basic pay gives a number far higher than the payslip.
Is DRA-2026 on top of DRA-2025, or does it replace it?
The memorandum of 21 July 2026 grants Disparity Reduction Allowance-2026 at 15% of basic pay as on 30 June 2022 "on the existing terms and conditions for those who are already in receipt of" a DRA. It does not withdraw the earlier orders, and each DRA has historically appeared as its own line on the payslip. This page therefore lists them separately and totals what you tick. If your slip shows only one DRA line, follow the slip.
Who counts as "already drawing DRA"?
It is a closed class, and that is the point of the wording. DRA opened in July 2021 for BPS 20-22 and was extended to BPS 1-19 from 1 March 2022. The 2025 and 2026 orders reach BPS 1-22 but only those already in receipt. If you never drew a DRA, those two lines are not yours, whatever your grade.
What happened to Ad-hoc Relief Allowance 2022 and 2025?
They were merged into the Basic Pay Scales 2026 and ceased to exist from 1 July 2026. That merger is the bulk of the increase in the new pay scales. They still appear in the table below, greyed out, so a total that looks smaller than last year's payslip is explained rather than just missing two lines.
And ARA-2023 and ARA-2024?
Neither was merged. ARA-2023, at 35% for BPS 1-16 and 30% for BPS 17-22, was already frozen at its 30 June 2023 level, so it is a fixed rupee amount you read off your payslip rather than a live percentage. ARA-2024, at 25% for BPS 1-16 and 20% for BPS 17-22 of basic pay of BPS-2022, stands frozen at its 30 June 2026 level. The clarification of 4 August 2026 settles both.
I joined after 1 July 2026. What do I get?
The 4 August 2026 clarification gives new entrants ARA-2023 and ARA-2024 on the minimum of the relevant Basic Pay Scale 2022 on a notional basis, frozen at that level. Tick the new-entrant box and the calculator switches both bases to that minimum. The Disparity Reduction Allowances are not open to you, because they run only to employees already in receipt.
Why is my DRA blocked when I draw the Executive Allowance?
The July 2022 memorandum says in terms that DRA-2022 is not admissible to officers of the Federal Government in BS 20-22 who have been granted the Executive Allowance. The 2021 order carries a wider bar: it excludes anyone allowed an additional allowance equal to or more than 100% of basic pay, frozen or not, or a performance allowance. Both switches are on the form.
How much did conveyance allowance go up?
By 50% of the existing amount, for BPS 1-22, from 1 July 2026. Rs 1,785 became Rs 2,678 for BPS 1-4, Rs 1,932 became Rs 2,898 for BPS 5-10, Rs 2,856 became Rs 4,284 for BPS 11-15, and Rs 5,000 became Rs 7,500 for BPS 16 and above. The first band is Rs 2,677.50 rounded up in the notification itself.
Are these allowances taxable?
Yes. Every one of these orders states that the allowance is subject to income tax. None of them counts as part of emoluments for calculating pension or gratuity, or for recovering house rent.
Does this cover provincial employees?
No. This is the federal chain only. The provinces issue their own disparity and relief notifications, on their own dates and at their own rates, and they do not always mirror the federal ones.
