Step by step
How your take-home is worked out
Start with gross
We add your gross monthly salary and any taxable allowances, then annualise it (× 12).
Apply FBR income tax
The Tax Year 2026-2027 salaried slabs are applied progressively to your annual income, then divided back to a monthly figure.
Deduct EOBI
The employee EOBI share — 1% of the notified minimum wage, not of your salary — is deducted. Toggle it off if your employer does not deduct EOBI.
See your net payslip
Gross minus income tax minus EOBI gives your monthly and annual take-home pay.
Good to know
Understanding your Pakistani payslip
Gross vs net
Gross is your total salary before deductions; net (take-home) is what lands in your account after income tax and EOBI.
Employee vs employer EOBI
You pay 1% as the employee; your employer pays a further 5% separately, which is not deducted from your salary.
What's not included
Provident fund, gratuity, health insurance and loan deductions vary by employer and are outside this estimate.
Reading the result
Gross, taxable and CTC are three different numbers
Job offers move between these without warning, and the gap is large enough to change a decision.
- Cost to company is everything the employer spends on you, including their own EOBI and provident fund contribution. You never see part of it.
- Gross salary is what appears at the top of the payslip before deductions.
- Taxable salary is gross adjusted for items treated differently under the Ordinance — some allowances and benefits are not valued at face value.
Comparing one employer's CTC against another's gross makes the first look better when it may not be. Ask both to quote the same thing.
Benefits in kind are still taxed
A company car, employer-provided accommodation or a subsidised loan are salary in your hands and valued by rule. A package heavy on benefits can carry more tax than the cash figure suggests, which is why two offers with identical cash can leave different amounts in your account.
The perquisites tax calculator values those.
Where this stops
Provident fund rules vary by employer, and gratuity depends on your terms of service. Ask for a full deduction breakdown in writing before accepting an offer — verbal figures are almost always gross.
FAQs
Net salary & payslip FAQs
What counts as taxable salary?
Basic pay plus taxable allowances (house rent above the exempt threshold, utilities, personal-use vehicle, etc.). Some allowances such as medical may be partly exempt. Enter your taxable gross plus any other taxable allowances.
Is EOBI deducted from my salary?
Yes, but not as 1% of your salary. EOBI contributions are assessed on the notified minimum wage: the employee share is 1% of that figure (a few hundred rupees a month) and the employer pays 5% of it separately. A higher salary does not raise the deduction. You can switch it off if your employer does not deduct EOBI, and you can change the minimum-wage figure if your province has notified a different one.
How is the income tax calculated?
