“FBR tax calculator” is what most people type, and it is a fair description of what they want: something that applies the Federal Board of Revenue’s rates to their own numbers. The trouble is that FBR collects a dozen different taxes, each with its own rules, and the calculator that answers “what is the tax on my salary” cannot answer “what will the withholding be when I sell a plot”. This site has 143 calculators for that reason. This guide is the short route to the right one, by the situation you are in; the table gives the law behind each, and the sections below say what each page does and does not do.

You get a salary
If the question is simply how much income tax a salary carries, the income tax calculator is the one: it applies the slabs for Tax Year 2026-2027 to a monthly or annual figure and shows the working band by band, with every earlier year in a dropdown. If what you want to see is the payslip, with EOBI and the monthly take-home, use the salary tax calculator instead; the tax figure is the same, the presentation is what differs. Two more cover the questions a salaried person asks a few times a year: what a bonus really costs (bonus tax) and what a raise really adds (pay raise). If you hold two jobs, or changed employer mid-year, the two salaries calculator shows why the deductions from both payslips fall short of the year’s tax.
And if the question is about last year, because you are filing or checking a return, the income tax calculator for 2025-26 opens on last year’s slabs and sets this year’s figure beside them.
You run a business or work for yourself
A sole proprietor or an association of persons pays on the non-salaried slabs, which start higher and climb faster. The business tax calculator runs them, with the super tax and the surcharge above Rs 10 million where they apply. Freelancers earning in dollars through a bank are usually in a different regime altogether, a small percentage of the receipt rather than a share of the profit, and the freelancer tax calculator works that out and tells you when it applies. The business and corporate hub holds the rest: sales tax, minimum tax on turnover, company rates, withholding on goods and services.
You are buying, selling or holding property
Property is where people most often use the wrong calculator, because four different taxes attach to one house. When you buy, the registrar collects advance income tax under section 236K: the property purchase tax calculator. When you sell, section 236C: the property sale tax calculator. The gain on the sale is taxed separately under the holding-period rules: the capital gains tax on property. And every year you own it, the province charges its own property tax: the property tax calculator for the four provinces, with Islamabad on its own page. Rent you receive is income, on the rental income tax calculator.
You earn profit on savings
Bank profit, National Savings, sukuk and dividends are each withheld at source at their own rate, and the rate is higher, in most cases double, for anyone not on the Active Taxpayers’ List. The bank profit tax calculator covers a bank account or term deposit; the National Savings profit calculator has the current rates for each certificate and the tax on them. If you are not sure whether being on the list is worth the trouble, the filer vs non-filer calculator adds up what the doubled rates cost across a year.
You are retiring, or already retired
A government pension is a formula on your last pay and years of service, then a chain of annual increases that differs by government. There is one calculator per jurisdiction because the chains differ: federal, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Private-sector workers have the EOBI pension instead, on the EOBI pension calculator. Gratuity and provident fund at the end of a private job, and the tax on them, are on the gratuity and provident fund calculator.
You are working out Zakat
Zakat is not a tax and FBR does not collect it, but it is the other annual calculation on money, and the bank deduction in Ramadan confuses the two. The Zakat calculator takes gold, silver, cash, business stock and receivables against the nisab, and the Islamic calculators hub has the specific cases: shares, property, rental income, a pension fund, livestock, and the inheritance shares.
Vehicles, phones, bills and the rest
The withholding taxes that reach ordinary life each have a page: registering a car (vehicle registration tax), importing a used one (car import duty), bringing a phone into the country (PTA tax by iPhone model), the taxes inside a mobile top-up (mobile load tax) and an electricity bill (electricity bill calculator). Sales tax on a price, forwards or backwards, is the sales tax calculator.
You are filing a return
The return is where the year’s tax and the year’s deductions meet. The tax refund calculator compares what was withheld with what is due; the withholding reconciliation calculator lists the deductions a year typically carries; the wealth statement reconciliation calculator checks that the change in your assets matches your declared income, which is the arithmetic FBR’s system runs on the statement; and if the date has gone, the late filing penalty calculator says what that costs.
What every one of them has in common
Each page names the section of the Ordinance or the provincial Act it applies, the year its rates are for, and the document the rates were read from, with a link. Each says where it stops. None of them stores what you type: the arithmetic runs in your browser, which the privacy policy sets out. And they agree with one another: a salary put through the income tax calculator, the salary calculator and the two salaries calculator gives the same tax to the rupee, because they read one slab file and a check runs the salary pages side by side on the same figures. If two pages on this site ever disagree on the same input, that is a defect, and the contact page is the place to report it. The full list, grouped by category, is at calculators.
